The method ❊

Strong Foundations First
Players improve fastest when their fundamentals are solid — strong foundations unlock every other part of the game. We build:

  • A clean and reliable first touch

  • Control in tight spaces

  • Balanced, coordinated footwork

  • Ball-striking technique that holds under pressure

01

Decision-Making & Game Awareness
Football is played in moments. We use high-intensity, mentally stimulating situations to teach players to:

  • Scan early and process information quickly

  • Identify options efficiently

  • Recognise space

  • Play with purpose and forward intention

02

Confidence Through Repetition & Feedback
Confidence is a skill built session by session. We give:

  • Simple, actionable feedback

  • High-repetition drills that develop mastery, mixed with new scenarios to apply those skills in unfamiliar situations

  • Positive reinforcement and visible progress

03

Football IQ & Game Understanding
Technical skill means little without understanding the “why” behind every action. Good players think the game, finding solutions as they play. We help players:

  • Develop awareness of positioning and movement

  • Understand different formations and their roles

  • Solve problems independently

  • Make smarter choices in and out of possession

04

Physical Movement & Agility
Modern players need their movement to be as sharp as their technique. We integrate age-appropriate physical work that improves:

  • Agility and quick changes of direction

  • Balance and stability

  • Explosiveness and speed

  • Body control in tight spaces

05

Enjoyment in Development
When players enjoy the process, they learn faster, take more initiative, and develop a long-term love for the game. We create an environment that is:

  • Positive and encouraging

  • Challenging without being overwhelming

  • Built around a strong relationship of trust between player and coach

Head Coach

Campbell Dovaston

  • My coaching perspective was shaped across three continents. Training in Japan instilled the foundations that define my coaching today — technical precision, disciplined repetition, and an obsessive attention to detail that most development pathways overlook. Playing in the United States added competitive structure and athletic rigour. By the time I came back to Australia, I had a perspective on the game that went well beyond what any single system could offer.

In Australia, my coaching has spanned junior NPL squads, talent ID for academies, and Selector and Coach of the APS Representative team, drawing from the best players across Victoria's elite private school competition. At Haileybury College I held dual roles as Assistant Coach (under Grant Brebner) of the First XI and Head Coach of the First Futsal team.

Away from the training pitch, I have served as a Scout and Recruitment Analyst for Plymouth Argyle F.C. — a professional club competing in the English Championship. My specific focus was emerging young talent — identifying A-League players with the profile to make the leap into elite European football. That means I know the exact attributes, mentality, and standard that those environments are looking for. That knowledge comes directly into every session I coach.

As a player, I captained at NPL and APS First Team Level, and represented Victoria as Captain at the Australian Futsal Nationals. I know what it takes to compete at a serious level, and I know the difference between players who plateau and players who keep climbing.

What I’m most proud of: players I've coached have progressed into Melbourne Victory Academy, Melbourne City Academy, Football Victoria Academy, Western United Academy, and the Emerging Matildas.

I believe most great players are built, not born. The right training opens doors. If your player is serious about the next level, this is where that journey begins.

Training Session Types

    • Fully personalised sessions built entirely around the individual player

    • Ideal for accelerating technical development, correcting habits, and building confidence

    • Every session is adjusted in real-time based on performance, ensuring the player is always working at the right level

    • Particularly effective for players looking to make rapid progress or prepare for trials and higher-level environments

    • Train with friends or teammates in a competitive, high-intensity environment

    • Maintains strong individual focus while introducing game-like decision-making and pressure

    • Players can organise their own group, or in some cases we can match players with others of a similar age and ability

    • Sessions are structured to maximise touches, intensity, and engagement for every player

Not sure which option is best? We’re happy to recommend the right setup based on your player’s level and goals.

Video Analysis Sessions

  • At the top level of the game — professional clubs and elite academies — video analysis is a standard part of player development. Players regularly review their own matches because it reveals things they simply can’t see in real time.

In a game, decisions happen too quickly to process. You might feel like you’re scanning, moving quickly, or making good decisions — but when you watch it back, the reality is often different.

Seeing your own game on screen, alongside our coaches, gives you objective feedback. You can clearly see your positioning, your movement, your first touch, and the decisions you make under pressure.

Video-based review has been shown to improve anticipation and decision-making by helping players recognise patterns and situations more quickly. But just as importantly, it closes the gap between what you think you’re doing and what you’re actually doing on the pitch.

    That might be:

    • Realising you have more time than you think

    • Seeing that you’re not scanning before receiving

    • Noticing how often your first touch puts you under pressure

    • Understanding when to slow the game down instead of forcing it

These are the details that change performance.

When players start to see this clearly, they don’t just improve — they start to understand the game properly.

If you want to read about this in more depth, take a look at our post on this topic.

    1. Send through your game footage
Once you book, send us footage of one full match for review. Note: For best results, game footage should be filmed from an elevated position near the halfway line, capturing as much of the pitch as possible (please avoid zooming in).

    2. We analyse the game
Your coach reviews the match in detail, identifies key moments, and prepares the session. This process takes around 2–3 hours per video.

    3. We meet and break it down together
We then run a 45-minute Match Video Analysis Session via Zoom or in person, where we talk through the footage, explain key moments, and where relevant, bring in professional examples — pausing and discussing what top players do in the same situations — so you can clearly see what “good” looks like and how to apply it in your own game.

    4. You leave with clear next steps
After the session, we send through summary notes with the main takeaways and focus points.

Please note: we do not offer same-day bookings for Match Video Analysis Sessions. Proper review takes time, and our team may also be working through other match analysis bookings or coaching sessions that day.
